Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister has urged Samoans to support their national airline, Polynesian.

Misa Telefoni told a meeting of APSA, the regional airline assocation, that small airlines needed to bond emotionally with their people in order to succeed.

He said if airlines gave their customers great service and good prices, they were more likely to support government moves to finance the operations.

Air New Zealand is reported to enjoy a higher overall reputation for service and bitterness is said to exist towards the millions spent every year by the Samaon government on Polynesian.

Misa said there was not yet the required level of nationalistic feelings toward Polynesian Airlines.
