A Solomon Islands Cabinet Minister, Daniel Fa'afanua, has pleaded not guilty to all eight charges he faces.
Solomon Islands radio says the minister faces assault charges and one count of demanding money with menace.
He has failed to get bail on the grounds that he could potentially interfere with witnesses or abscond.
A pre-trial date has been set of February the 5th.
