Kessai Note re-elected as Presdient of Marshall Islands

The president of the Marshall Islands, Kessai Note, has been re-elected to his second four-year term at the helm.

Mr Note was voted in during the opening of the first parliamentary session since the November 17 national election.

His United Democratic Party is solidly in control of parliament.

Mr Note won 20 votes to nine over the Opposition candidate and Minister of Education in a previous government, Justin deBrum.

Mr Note is expected to announce the linup of his 10-member cabinet this week and his official inauguration is scheduled for Monday.
