The main enforcer of a former Solomon Islands militant leader has appeared in court after being charged with the murder of two police officers in 2002.

Ricky Jobesi, identified as the right-hand man of Jimmy Rasta, was arrested on Friday for the murders of Special Constables Hudson Hati and Max Ula.

Three constables were brought to Rasta's compound to be questioned over the earlier deaths of some of his men when they attempted to escape.

It is then alleged that Rasta's men, including Jobesi, caught the men and killed them.

The body of the third constable has never been found.
