Australian Council of Trade Unions concerned about pressure on Solomons counterpart

The Australian Council of Trade Unions is seriously concerned with what it calls the unwarranted intervention by Australian diplomats into the work of the Solomons Council of Trade Unions.

The Solomon's Cabinet is under pressure over its agreement with the Public Sector Union for a two point five per cent pay increase.

The Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation says the Australian-led Regional Assistance Mission, or Ramsi, says the country can't afford such pay deals at this stage.

But the ACTU says is counterpart in the Solomons is doing its work in representing its members and the wider future social and economic well being of the Solomon Islands Community
