Files stolen from PNG supreme court

1:26 pm on 27 January 2004

Thieves have broken into the premises of Papua New Guinea's supreme court and stolen computer files.

The National newspapers says the computers contained a database of records of all past and present supreme court cases.

The newspaper says staff found the doors forced open when they turned up for work.

The theft follows two weeks after a similar break-in at the National Court registry.

The court registrar says sittings next week will depend on manual records.
