A Solomon Islands commentator, John Roughan, says there's been huge interest in the country in the jailing of Fa'afunua.
He says the jailed minister is a "big man" on the Solomons' political scene, and news of his jailing stunned many people.
"I think there's a bit of a gasp that it's come to this, that some of these big men now are in prison. It's going to take time to process this but to me it's a good omen. People will begin to realise that there's nobody above the law and here's a case. Now I think some of the other politicians must be ... had a sleepless night last night."
