Eight people will lose their jobs when Air Kiribati closes its international service at the end of the week.
The airline has been flying to the Marshall Islands and Fiji but lost about 300,000 US dollars a month since beginning operations in December 2002.
The airline's manager, Baraniko Baaro, says Air Kiribati is working on a code share proposal with other Pacific airlines.
"Sort of buying the number of seats from an airline that is operating the routes that we want to fly. Then, sort of an encouragement to ensure that they operate the routes we want to operate."
