Hawaiian cyclone aid to arrive in Samoa

Three containers of relief supplies for Samoan victims of Cyclone Heta are expected in Apia this week.

The supplies were the result of a relief drive in Honolulu coordinated by American Samoan Senate liaison officer for governmental affairs, Afimutasi Gus Hannemann

Many Hawaii based companies supported the drive together with Samoans and American Samoans living in the state.

Afimutasi said the relief drive was given a strong push by a ten thousand US dollar cash donation by Samoan professional wrestler turned Hollywood actor, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The supplies will be distributed by the Samoan government and Afimutasi says he want to make sure that some of it reaches Johnson's family villages of Lalomanu and Siumu on Upolu Island.
