Traditional landowners of the site of Fiji's Sigatoka Hospital have given notice to the government that they want their land back for their own use.
Radio Legend reports that the landowners have been angered by the government's inability to make a goodwill payment of 400 thousand US dollars to renew the expired lease.
The government has offered only 120 thousand as a goodwill payment.
The landowners' lawyer, Niko Nawaikula, says his clients have decided not to renew the expired lease and it is within their legal rights to want the hospital site back.
The hospital caters for thousands of Sigatoka residents and its rural hinterland as well the population and tourist hotels and resorts on Fiji's Coral Coast.
