The first three lists of candidates for next month's provincial elections in New Caledonia have been submitted to the French high commission in Noumea.
The pro-independence FLNKS movement has presented a list led by Paul Neaoutyne, who is the president of the mainly Kanak northern province.
The movement's main party, the Caledonian Union, is yet to present its list.
The National Front has presented its list, with the top spot held by its leader Guy George.
And the French Entente of the North has placed Yannick Lechevalier as its number one.
All lists alternate male and female candidates to comply with the French law on gender parity.
