New Zealand to host counter-terrorism meeting for Forum members

The New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has announced that New Zealand will host a counter-terrorism meeting for Pacific Island Forum members next month.

Miss Clark says senior policy-makers from the Forum and observers from regional partners and organisations will attend the meeting to be held from May the 10th to the 12th.

Miss Clark says the meeting targets one of four main goals identified at the recent Leaders Retreat in Auckland.

"It's ensuring that we can support people having the right legislation in place so that they can ratify the new UN conventions. Also, that they are aware of what the new international requirements are for civil aviation and for maritime transport, and ensuring that as, The Pacific, we hold hands together to make sure we are all meeting the new international requirements."
