Solomons prime minister condemns attack on RAMSI officer

8:31 am on 21 April 2004

The Solomon Islands prime minister says those who allegedly kidnapped and raped a female member of the Regional Assistance Mission must face the full force of the law.

In a statement, Sir Allan Kemakeza said it is saddening to learn of the incident that had happened to a member of the forces who are in the Solomons at the government's invitation to help stop lawlessness.

Sir Allan says it is not traditional that recipients of much needed assistance burn the fingers that feed them.

Sir Allan says he and his government condemn the attack.

It's alleged the RAMSI officer was jogging along the road near Henderson Airport early on Saturday when two men in a passing car abducted and subsequently raped her.
