Pacific Island states have been warned to get their people behind the idea of good governance.
The former Auditor General of Samoa says he hopes Pacific leaders will hold on to the principle of good governance for the long-term benefit of their countries.
Su'a Rimoni Ah Chong says politicians should not simply pay lip-service to good governance:
"I would like to hope that our leaders have grown to a stage of maturity, to you know, do it properly, rather than just another, same old story about these things, you know, saying the right things, and totally doing, something absolutely different."
Su'a has spoken on a lecture tour on the subject of good governance, on behalf of the civil society organisation Transparency International, and he's already given lectures in Fiji and Vanuatu.
