Three children reponsible for New Caledonia bus vandalism

Police in New Caledonia say three children were responsible for the weekend vandalising of 24 buses in Noumea.

They say the children are 12 and 13 years old and were identified just one day after they smashed the side and rear windows of the buses in a night time spree at a depot of the company, Kairua.

The children had been drinking alcohol and told investigators they vandalised the vehicles to have fun.

The three have been released but legal action is being taken against their parents for alleged neglect of their children.

Noumea bus services continue to be disrupted as it will take the bus operators two weeks to repair the vehicles.
