Solomons police urge action over white collar crime

The Solomon Islands has been told it must address the issue of white collar crime as a high priority.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ben McDevitt says such offences must be dealt with as severely as murder or rape:

"In some ways it is much worse because what it involves is people who do not directly have blood on their hands, but two or three steps back they are siphoning off money they are not entitled to."

Commissioner McDevitt says white collar crime has also been a problem in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
