Aloha Airlines has terminated contracts with two companies in American Samoa that provided service for the Honolulu-based carrier when the airline first launched flights to Pago Pago in mid December last year.
Aloha had awarded Trans Pacific Enterprise (TPE), based at Pago Pago International Airport, a contract "for above the wing" services, which covers check-in, boarding and ticketing of passengers and TPE employed about 20 people for the task.
Island Hut Restaurant at the airport was awarded the catering contract for outbound flights.
However, Aloha spokesman Stu Glauberman said the carrier has hired Hallmark Aviation Services to handle aircraft operations at Pago Pago.
Mr Glauberman says Aloha already works with Hallmark at five airports in North America.
He says most, if not all, of the TPE employees will be retained by Hallmark.
Mr Glauberman says the Aloha's catering operation has been moved to Rarotonga to better accommodate their outbound service, which originates from there.
