Solomons copra producer fails to reach target

4:14 pm on 25 May 2004

Solomon Islands' biggest copra producer, Russell Islands Plantation Estates, has not been reaching its production targets.

The reasons is said to be that workers are not happy with the management.

Now the Solomon Island National Union of workers is stepping in.

The union General Secretary, Tony Kagovai, says the hostility between the management and workers is disappointing as another standoff was resolved earlier this year.

The ongoing disputes have been having an impact on the company's production levels.

The company has been a source of overseas earnings for the country for many years.
