PINA says staff matters are delicate

The President of the Pacific Islands News Association, Lance Polu, says hiring staff is a technical issue that needs to be handled carefully.

This follows an agreement to merge PINA and the Pacific Islands Broadcasting Association last year.

Despite criticisms that the merger is taking too long, Mr Polu says the new PINA board inherited many technical problems.

He says problems include whether to base the office in Fiji or Samoa.

"The other technical issue is staff who are going to be laid off and new contracts and advertising for new positions and of which those people who worked before in the system can actually have a right to apply."
