New front needed to fight climate change, says Marshall Islands

The Marshall Islands foreign minister, Gerald Zackios, has called for broad international support to combat climate change and sea level rises.

Mr Zackios says while scientific studies on the matter are inconclusive, people on the ground do experience changes.

"The consequences are very important to those countries, we share relationships, we share, we are a member of the international community and participate actively in collaboration on other issues, such as the war on terror. We hope that countries will also look at the environmental issue as an issue, that needs joint collaboration and co-operation."
