Solomon Islands asks for help with copra and cocoa industries

Solomons Islands is asking New Zealand to help rehabilitate its copra and cocoa industries.

The Planning Minister, Nollen Leni says both the copra and cocoa industries have been affected by the recent ethnic tension.

Mr Leni says the government wants to help people set up buying centres in rural areas to assist farmers sell their produce.

He told the Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation that this will reduce the high freight costs.

The request for help is being considered by both governments
