New Caledonian parliamentarians to elect new Government on June 24th

New Caledonian Parliamentarians will attempt to elect a new government on June 24th after the administration of Marie-Noelle Themereau collapsed last week, just three hours after being formed.

Congress had elected Ms Themereau, the head the Future Together Party, as President, and Dewey Gorodey, from the Uni FLNKS as Vice President.

But the three members of the Rassemblement-UMP then withdrew and the Government collapsed.

The Noumea Accord calls for a collegial government made up of all parties and if one party leaves the Government a new election is mandatory.
