Fiji customs officer arrested in connection with big drugs bust

A senior former Fiji Customs officer has been arrested in connection with the 600-million US dollar Asian drug bust in Suva two weeks ago.

Also under arrest are an immigration officer and an employee of a private company.

Fiji TV reports the investigation files of the three men have been sent to the director of public prosecutions who will decide what charges to lay.

But Fiji TV says the laying of charges may be delayed because the state prosecutors are busy with the prosecution of the vice president, Ratu Jope Seniloli, and five other people whose High Court trial on serious coup related charges is due to begin on Monday.
