Solomon Islands to mark first anniversary of RAMSI arrival

The Solomon Islands Prime Minister Sir Allan Kemakeza has announced a week-long programme of events will be held throughout the country to celebrate the first anniversary of the Regional Assistance Mission, (RAMSI).

As well as celebrating the success and achievements of RAMSI, Sir Allan says the proramme would focus on the renewed opportunities now available for all people to work towards a brighter and better Solomon Islands.

The events will take place from the 24th of July to the 31st and aims to involve as much of the local community as possible.

The government says it is hoped that senior officals from around the region will attend festivities which will include football matches featuring some of the national team heroes.
