Fiji government to subsidise uneconomic air routes

5:39 am on 30 June 2004

The Fiji cabinet has approved the payment of subsidies to two domestic airlines to fly uneconomic routes to a number of outer islands.

The subsidies will go to Air Fiji and Sun Air until the end of May next year.

The two airlines had applied for the subsidies under the Fiji government's domestic aviation strategy which recommended such payments for uneconomic outer island routes.
