The Solomon Islands' department of Education has just appointed a local distributor, Transpacific, to give out resources from New Zealand to primary schools.

NZAID has donated curriculum material and books worth over 6.5 million US dollars to assist schools nationwide.

The undersecretary for the education minister, Donald Malasa, says primary schools will receive the materials resources within two to three weeks.

Mr Malasa says over 40-thousand primary school children will benefit.

"We're hoping that that will greatly enhance or improve the delivery of services, especially with the availability. Sudents will have access to these materials. For a long time those schools were without quality material, so we hope this will boost both the morale of both students and teachers"
