It's reported that the average wage for teachers in Hawaii has fallen.

The Associated Press news agency says pay in Hawaii has declined while teacher's salaries throughout the US have risen.

The American Federation of Teachers reports a 3 point 3 per cent average increase in pay for the 2002-3 school year.

Whereas the average teacher's salary in Hawaii fell 3 point 5 per cent over the same period.

The teachers' union reports pay rates in Guam are also poor in comparison with the US.
