Fiji police are investigating allegations of vote rigging in the 2001 general election.
The investigation has been confirmed by police and follows a complaint by the Fiji Labour Party.
The deputy commissioner of police, Moses Driver, says the decision to investigate follows discussions with the relevant agencies ,
The Labour leader Mahendra Chaudry, says crucial election documents have mysteriously gone missing.
Mr Chaudry is insisting that the second general elections were not free and fair, as declared by the Commonwealth and United Nations observers.
