Premier of Solomon's Guadalcanal Province repeats support for federal system

The Solomon Islands province of Guadalcanal says it is still advocating the adoption to a federal system of government.

During special celebrations, the premier, Waeta Ben Tabusasi, said the current provincial government system failed to meet his people's expectation of good governance, equal distribution of services, investment and development.

Mr Tabusasi told the the Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation that Guadalcanal welcomed the government's effort in introducing a state system.

He said a task force has been appointed to draft a state constitution after carefully studying the draft Federal Constitution about to be circulated in the country.
