French Polynesia's Forum admission seen to help regional issues

Dr Rod Alley says the broadening of the Forum is a development that may contribute to dealing with challenges facing the Papua New Guinea island of Bougainville and Indonesia's Papua province.

"So I would see French Polynesian inclusion as an opportunity for the region generally to reach out to some of these difficult issues that remain in terms of residual colonalism which are still yet to be resolved."
