Emergency management personnel in American Samoa have completed a three-day exercise in responding to terrorist use of weapons of mass destruction.

The training involved management and supervisors working within the government's Department of Public Works and others who are part of the first response teams, such as police, environmental agency and telecommunication services.

The territory's Governor, Togiola Tulafono, says the Public Works Department plays a critical role in any major disaster, and he was pleased to see the strong interest and level of commitment to training.
