Polynesian Airlines mulls multiple partners

10:18 am on 20 August 2004

Samoa-owned Polynesian Airlines is considering having more than one partner to provide greater competition.

The airline's chairman, Misa Telefoni, says they want competitive airfares for locals and tourists.

He says they also want to utilise a number of hotels with more tourists.

Virgin Blue, Qantas and Air New Zealand have held talks with Polynesian Airlines over possible joint ventures this year.

Emirates Airlines, which now sponsors the Samoa rugby sevens team, is another possible partner.

The airline has scheduled follow up talks on the joint ventures, later this year.
