Guam concerned about storm

1:44 pm on 20 August 2004

Forecasters in Guam say a tropical depression that formed near the Marshall Islands was upgraded to a tropical storm yesterday.

The Pacific Daily News reports the meteorologists in Guam are closely monitoring the storm.

There have been no warnings or watches issued for the nearby Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, but residents are being urged to pay close attention to weather announcements.

Forecasters say the storm is distant from islands in the area but they add that nevertheless, people should pay attention to it.
