Former Samoa minister charged with theft

A former health minister in Samoa has appeared in court charged with two counts of theft

The trial of Toalepaialii Toeolesulusulu Salesa began yesterday at the District Court.

Toalepaialii is accused of stealing items, including sheets of mesh wire, with a total value of US$5,000.

Mauu Lima of Satapuala, is charged with the same offence, and also went on trial yesterday.

The property belonged to the chiefs and orators of Satapuala.

Toalepaialii has run for Parliament in recent elections without success.
