A report in French Polynesia says a new survey has been launched to ascertain the needs of businesses in the territory.

The Enterprise Observatory is carrying out a survey of businesses in terms of their employment, functions and training needs.

The chamber of commerce says the inquiry will help authorities to be more able to promote employment and vocational training.

It says this will in turn help the economic development of the territory.

The Tahitipresse news agency reports the survey will involve nearly half of all businesses with five or more employees.

There are moves to do the survey each year to be able to assess the progress of workers within businesses.
