RAMSI performance and activities under review

9:32 am on 24 September 2004

The performance and activities of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands during the past twelve months are now under review.

Intervention taskforce chairman, Paul Tovua, says the review will focus on the four main tasks of RAMSI, namely, restoration of order, stabilisation of government finances, promotion of economic recovery and business confidence, and rebuilding of the government machinery.

He says the taskforce is now inviting input from the public, the provincial premiers, NGO's and the and the business sector.

Mr Tovua says from the review the taskforce will put together a report which it will present to cabinet, and then parliament when it meets in November.
