Fiji's parliament has been told that half its members are clients of prostitutes and would have to resign if named.
The minister for women, Adi Asenaca Caucau, made the claim while speaking on prostitution and child sex.
She said the trade could not be stopped because prostitutes always have clients, which include half the members of parliament according to information she had.
The Labour MP, Krishna Datt, urged the minister to reveal the names of the MPs involved so the police or parliament's privileges committee could take action against them to ensure that the integrity of the House was upheld.
But Adi Asenaca refused to do so saying women had given her confidential information, but were she to do so, half the government would have to resign.
