Fiji's opposition leader says the jailed vice president, Ratu Jope Seniloli, and the deputy speaker, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure, should follow the example of George Shiu Raj and resign.
Mr Shiu Raj resigned as minister for multi-ethnic affairs last Friday after allegations in the auditor general's report that he colluded with a travel agency to defraud the state and is now under police investigation.
Mick Beddoes says by resigning Mr Shiu Raj is upholding the integrity of his office so investigations can proceed without embarrassing the government.
Mr Beddoes has told the Daily Post that Seniloli and Vakalalabure's decision to hang on to their salaries even though they are unable to perform their functions amounts to an admission that they took on the jobs for themselves, not the people.
Mr Beddoes says by doing so they bring disrespect to their office and the people they represent.
Mr Beddoes says Seniloli and Vakalalabure are at the bottom of the credibility ladder and would do well to follow Mr Shiu Raj's example and resign.
