The New Zealand-based Pacific Island Media Association says it still plans to set up a regional news agency.
The Vice Chair for PIMA, Lito Vilisoni, says the organisation has huge potential for the development of Pacific media in New Zealand and the region.
But she says while the idea of a regional news agencies is among the associations' future goals, it has more important priorities.
"The only thing is we haven't been able to get there as fast as we would like too, cos we're a small voluntary team relying on the goodwill of each other. And as we all know voluntary teams don't achieve a lot in a year, unless everyone is committed and unless we get funding."
