The Solomon Island Department of Health and Medical Services has a new permanent secretary, Dr Judson Leafasia.
He replaces the former health secretary George Manimu, whose departure from his ministry was not made known until Dr Leafasia was sworn in at Government House this week.
Reports say Dr Manimu has resigned from the public service to contest the North Malaita by-election on December the 1st.
