Solomon Islands Police await post mortem after suspicious death

3:24 pm on 15 October 2004

Solomon Islands police are investigating the possibility that an employment issue could have caused the suspicious death of an Australian businessman.

The assistant police commissioner, John Siapu, says police have established that 50-year-old Nick Constantine was stabbed and are investigating a possible homicide.

Mr Constantine was the general manager of Sullivans Ltd and was found dead at his office at Point Cruz in Honiara on Wednesday morning.

Mr Siapu says while police have no clear suspects, they are conducting enquiries into a possible work-related conflict.

"We could not rule that out but we couldn't establish anything on that yet, as of yesterday. But those are the sort of lines of enquiry that we are following. We are calling for members of the public who would've seen aything on that Tuesday night to come forward and help us in our in our investigations and enquiries."

John Siapu says they are still awaiting a full post-mortem report.
