Lawyers for the election office in American Samoa are exploring whether ballot forms for the run-off vote for governor and lieutenant governor, can be printed before the seven day period for election challenges is up.
The deputy election commissioner Filivaa Mageo says election law states that poll results can only become official in seven days when no challenges have been filed.
Mageo says lawyers are looking at ways to get around the statute.
There is concern that the delay in printing ballot forms will disenfranchise voters who are leaving the territory and won't be back in time for the run-off.
