The chiefs of Avuavu area of South Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands are calling on government to consider issues that are being ignored.

Speaking during a visit by the Governor General, a chiefs' representative said the issues are the return of alienated lands and the recognition of women to land ownership on Guadalcanal.

He told the Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation that the government should pay chiefs for their communal work.

The chiefs' representative said, all alienated lands should be returned to original land owners and that women should be more vocal in land developments.
