RAMSI head says current forces in Solomons can handle the situation there

The Head of the Regional Assistance Mission in Solomon Islands, James Batley, has ruled out any suggestion there maybe a increase of RAMSI personnel in reaction to recent violence against its officers.

Mr Batley says Solomon Islanders can be assured that the current numbers maintained by the mission are capable of handling the situation.

"We have the people to do the job. People should be very confident about that and I am confident about that. We have the right people to do the right job."

Mr Batley says he has been encouraged by the public and political leaderships strong support against the violence.
