A campaign has been launched in Solomon Islands to ensure two parliamentary by-elections on December the 1st are free of corruption.

The by-elections will be held in the electorates of North Malaita and Ulawa-Ugi.

North Malaitan constituents will elect a new member of parliament to replace their jailed member, Daniel Fa'afanua, while Ulawa-Ugi electors will replace Nathaniel Waena, who is now the Governor General.

The so-called Clean Up Election campaign is being carried out by a Wings of Change committee, a group of youths formed to weed out corrupt practices.

The committee uses the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation put out messages and programmes that advise voters on how to vote.
