A customs employee in Samoa, who is being questioned over the alleged misuse of public money, has left the country.
The employee is one of several workers being questioned.
A letter, said to be from the Chief Auditor, was written to the Immigration Department allowing the officer to leave the country.
But the Chief Auditor, Tamaseu Leni Warren, says the letter carries a signature that purports to be his, but it's not.
The Comptroller of Customs and the Chief Auditor are said to be hopeful that the employee concerned will return to Samoa for further questioning.
