A report from Fiji says the official secretary to President Iloilo has been removed from office under military pressure.

Fiji TV reports that Paula Kunabuli has been ordered to leave Government House immediately and report to the Public Service Commission.

There are suggestions the military wanted Mr Kunabuli removed because of his public statements against Commodore Bainimarama on his stance that he did not want any coup tainted politician to be appointed vice president.

At the weekend, Mr Kunabuli was quoted as saying the military had no role to play in the appointment of the vice president which is the sole prerogative of President Iloilo.

The military spokesman, Captain Neumi Leweni, has told a local radio station the military was not aware of Mr Kunabuli's removal and did not have a part to play in it.
