A post mortem examination is to be carried out on the body of a Cook Islands nurse found on the outer island of Mangaia.
Police commissioner, Pira Wichman, says her death is believed to be suspicious and the coroner is arranging for a pathologist from New Zealand to conduct a medical examination.
Mr Wichman says a team of six police, including four from the criminal investigation department is on Mangaia to carry out an investigation.
The woman was found dead last Friday morning in the village of Oneroa.
