For the first time Micronesians will soon be able to tune into to their local radio stations via the Internet.

The Federated States of Micronesia Telecommunications Corporation plans to begin streaming radio broadcasts online from next year.

FSM Telecom general manager, Takuro Akinaga ,says they wanted to do something to benefit the public.

The telecommunications company is redesigning its website, www.fm, to offer the relay from government radio stations in Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk and Yap.

Listeners will need Internet Explorer to tune in, or free software can be downloaded from the net.
