Niue joins the international commercial nonu market

7:41 pm on 16 December 2004

A large shipment of Niue's organic nonu is heading for the international marketplace this week.

The PACNEWS agency reports the 9,000-litre-shipment is the first of the natural medicinal liquid to leave the island in bulk.

It's heading for Auckland where it will be bottled and marketed initially in Foodtown and Woolworth supermarkets and health stores.

The processed fruit from the nonu tree was harvested from Niue's bush areas where it grows wild.

Niue now joins The Cook Islands, Fiji, Hawaii, Samoa and Tahiti in producing and marketing Nonu.
